Events
Cluny organizes events to cultivate relationships among people who are building the real. Our events range from intimate encounters to large conferences, each designed to foster meaningful connections and deeper understanding.
Pope Leo XIV, the first American pope, is soon to release his highly anticipated first encyclical—reportedly titled Magnifica humanitas (“Magnificent Humanity”) and currently in its final stage of revision. The stakes could not be higher. Amid the challenges and opportunities artificial intelligence has introduced into the world, the Pope is expected to address directly the ethical questions AI poses and “the profound consequences it may have for human work, social relations, and the dignity of the person.”
In the first hours and days after publication, the world will be ablaze with commentary. That is why we have assembled a group of knowledgeable, thoughtful Catholics to offer their interpretation—to cut through the noise and engage in a deeper conversation than you will find in the news or on social media.
Pope Leo XIV, whose choice of papal name signals his intent to continue in his predecessor’s spirit, has spent over a year preparing this document—which may prove the most significant of his pontificate, at a moment when the world is in desperate need of moral leadership.
Join us online on Tuesday, May 26th, 2026, from 12–1:30PM ET. Luke Burgis will moderate a one-hour discussion, followed by 30 minutes of audience Q&A.
WATCH NEWER THINGS
In contemporary life, many people's sense of agency is diminishing. Isolation, social media, economic and existential uncertainty, institutional decay–as well as the endless self-help content and essays–all point toward an anxiety about our own capacity to act well in relation to each other and our values. There is general malaise regarding our own sense of authority in this world and among others. We want to change our lives in some way, but we feel ourselves hampered by a mix of habits, society, and human nature.
In this special event, hosted by Drink & Think and Cluny, we will discuss the possibilities and limits of human freedom, agency, and ways we might enlarge ourselves and our world to increase both.
RESERVE YOUR SPOT HERE. The event is free and open to the public, but slots are limited.
