The Director of Communications is part marketing, part operations, and part community development.
What you'll do
- Shape and run our social media strategy (X, IG, YouTube, LinkedIn, or wherever the conversation lives)
- Grow a newsletter and community of readers and thinkers
- Create and curate short clips from longer videos
- Tell our story through anti-mimetic marketing campaigns
- Design systems that keep everything moving smoothly
What you bring
- You've shown unusual creativity online—whether across multiple platforms or mastery of one that proves you can translate ideas into culture-shaping content
- You're fluent in organizational tools (Slack, Asana, Photoshop, etc.) or can learn them fast
- You care about writing, design, and the craft of communication
- You're proactive, self-directed, and energized by big, interdisciplinary projects
- You're familiar with Cluny's work, and have your own point of view
Details
This is a full-time position. It's not for tourists or those who need constant direction. But if you want to help build something new at the intersection of ideas, institutions, and culture—this could be a career-defining experience.
Compensation & Location
- Compensation: $85,000/year.
- Benefits: Comprehensive university benefits package including health and dental insurance, tuition assistance, 401k match, and more.
- Location: Must live or be willing to move to Washington, DC.
